Problems with Plug & Charge

For Plug & Charge to work, both the charging station and the car need to support Plug & Charge. If you experience a problem with Plug & Charge, there are some steps you can take to try and resolve it yourself before contacting Volvo support.

Problems with Plug & Charge may be due to an issue with your charging contract, the charging station or simply because the charging station does not support Plug & Charge.

To see if a charging station supports Plug & Charge, check the station's details in Google Maps via the centre display. When using the Volvo public charging service (VPCS) you'll find the station’s information in the Volvo Cars app, under the map symbol Px-2037-VOC app icon Map.

 Note

Users signed up with a third-party e-mobility service provider may receive limited support from Volvo support regarding Plug & Charge.
If you have a problem with Plug & Charge, first try to reconnect the charging cable to your car. If the problem persists, do the following:
In the centre display, press the car symbol Px-2037-VOC app icon Car and go to Settings.

Go to Charging > Plug & Charge and check that there is a contract certificate installed in your car.

  • If there is a contract certificate, contact your e-mobility service provider to make sure there are no issues with the contract.
  • If there is no contract certificate, follow all of the activation instructions again included in Activating Plug & Charge.

If Plug & Charge isn't working after a workshop visit, it may be because the contract certificate was removed from your car. Follow the activation instructions again to install a new certificate.
