Pairing the Volvo Cars app with the car

There are different ways of pairing the Volvo Cars app with your car. The steps vary depending on car model and model year, so make sure to read the section that applies to your car.

Pairing the Volvo Cars app with the car

Before pairing the Volvo Cars app with the car, your Volvo ID needs to be connected to the owner profile. This will be done by Volvo Cars when you buy or lease a car directly from them. If you buy the car from a retailer, they should help you set this up. If you're not connected to the car through a Volvo Cars ordering process or via a retailer, you need to connect your Volvo ID to the owner profile yourself.

Make sure to follow the instructions that apply to your situation.

Follow the steps below if you've bought or leased your car directly from Volvo Cars or a retailer.
Sit in the driver's seat with your car key.
Follow the instructions in the centre display to set up the owner profile.
You'll be asked to log in with your Volvo ID. This will connect your Volvo ID to the profile.
Log in to the Volvo Cars app on your phone with the same Volvo ID to see the connected car.
You now have full access to the car.
Follow the steps below if you're not connected to the car through a Volvo Cars ordering process or via a retailer.
Sit in the driver's seat with all your car keys.
Follow the instructions in the centre display to set up the owner profile.
  • You'll first be asked to register as the car's owner (this may not necessarily refer to the legal owner).
  • Next, you'll be asked to log in with your Volvo ID. This will connect your Volvo ID to the profile.
In the car's centre display, follow the instructions on the welcome screen.
Log in to the Volvo Cars app with the same Volvo ID to see the connected car.
You now have full access to the car.

If you have an owner profile, you can now share Volvo Cars app access to your car with other drivers. See Sharing Volvo Cars app access to your car with other drivers.
